Seaway Getaway is an event created for my Visiting Designers class where I was challenged to create an invitation. The concept consists of a luxurious gala getaway hosted by Ferretti Yachts in Italy to honor their most important clients. I designed the dieline and built the invitation using blue, white, and gold as the main colors for a luxurious feel and to relate to the idea of the ocean. My goal was to create an experience by having multiple elements of surprise which is why I decided to build a layered invitation where a new element was revealed after lifting a layer. Starting with a postcard that hints at the event’s location, followed by a wax-sealed letter with the invitation details, and the RSVP with the design of a travel ticket. The blue-on-blue tones were used to reference the idea that the gala was going to be hosted in deep waters. Golden wax seals were used to add importance, and exclusivity, and make it look personal.
